Planetary Ball Mills
Semi-Circular Planetary Ball Mill
A vertical planetary mill for preparing small batches of powders and mixtures in the laboratory. The semi-circular design refers to the machine housing, not the shape of the grinding jars.
Fit for your experiment
Compare the XQM-A models by jar capacity and available bench space. Select jar and ball materials for the sample chemistry; vacuum processing requires a compatible sealed jar.
How to use this specification
The disc revolves while the grinding jars rotate about their own axes. Media impacts and friction act on the sample. Speed, duration, loading and jar material jointly influence the result.
Before selecting a configuration
- Define feed size, target particle size and acceptable wear contamination.
- Choose jar capacity from the working sample load, leaving room for media movement.
- Confirm balancing, clamping and any cooling or atmosphere option for the exact model.
Key features
- Four symmetric stations support parallel preparation of separate samples.
- Variable-frequency speed control, timed operation and alternating rotation support process development.
- The compact vertical layout suits laboratory batch preparation.
- Jar and media selection adapts the setup to different sample-contact requirements.
Construction details
- A semi-circular housing surrounds the vertical planetary assembly.
- The planetary disc is cast as an integral component.
- Precision gears transmit motion between the disc and jar stations.
- Dedicated jar clamps secure each vessel and allow removal between batches.
Configuration notes
Specify the required controller and sealed-jar accessories. A fine particle-size target needs a material-specific trial; it is not a guaranteed result for every sample.
Explore the construction details

Integral planetary disc
The cast planetary disc carries the four jar stations. Match jar capacity and loaded mass to the selected model.

Precision gear transmission
The gear train transmits the planetary motion. This close-up illustrates the transmission component described for the series.

Four-station jar clamps
Dedicated clamps locate and secure the jars. Check vessel compatibility and clamping before each run.
Technical specifications
Compare the exact model and configuration. Nominal vessel volume is not the usable sample load. Particle-size results depend on the material and process; confirm critical values in the quotation.
