How do planetary mill layouts and controls differ?
Start with jar motion and access
A semi-circular or square housing describes the machine body. Both can use the disc-and-jar motion of a vertical planetary mill. A horizontal configuration changes jar orientation, while a full-directional configuration adds inversion of the assembly. These differences affect sample redistribution and vessel handling; they should be evaluated with the actual sample.
Choose the controller with the operating schedule
Variable-frequency speed control, timed operation and alternating directions support process development. A touchscreen configuration may add stored programs, monitoring and alarms. Confirm the fitted controller and power-interruption behavior instead of assuming every machine has the same control functions.
Separate micro bench use from glovebox integration
XQM-0.2 and XQM-0.2S are distinct configurations. The glovebox version uses a compact arrangement and separate control box. Check transfer dimensions, working clearance, atmosphere compatibility and cable routing for the installation.
Set an acceptance trial
Record material, feed size, jar and media, working load, speed, duration and the temperature measurement point. The final particle size depends on this complete process. A generic fineness claim is insufficient to select a machine for every formulation.
