Heavy-jar support for mechanical alloying trials
Application note · Application requirement and proposed configuration. This note does not confirm delivery, commissioning or a validated process result.
Application requirement
A university requested a heavy-duty horizontal planetary configuration for alloy powder research using tungsten-carbide vacuum jars and media. A simulated combined ball-and-sample load of about 70 kg per jar was included in the request, alongside compatibility with smaller heavy jars.
Proposed equipment approach
The technical discussion proposed using a WXQM-60-class host and redesigning the jar seats, main disc shaft and clamping components. This was a custom load proposal; it is not a rated load for standard machines or proof of a completed alloying process.
Configuration checks
- Account for the jar mass as well as balls and sample when defining the total load.
- Verify shaft, seat and clamp compatibility for every intended jar size.
- Agree the handling method and trial criteria before approving the configuration.
