Stirred-mill scale-up with slurry circulation
Application note · Application requirement and proposed configuration. This note does not confirm delivery, commissioning or a validated process result.
Application requirement
A research user with a 10 L water-cooled vacuum stirred mill wanted to move to a 100 L configuration and add a diaphragm pump and circulation piping. The slurry composition was not stated.
Proposed equipment approach
The technical proposal combined a 100 L stainless steel water-cooled vessel, rotating seal, diaphragm pump and stainless steel circulation lines. The larger capacity was a proposed equipment configuration; the record does not establish throughput, dispersion stability or the final particle size.
Configuration checks
- Check slurry viscosity and solids loading when selecting the pump.
- Review all wetted parts, seals and circulation lines for compatibility.
- Validate residence time, cooling and the milling schedule during scale-up.
